Hi Fintan,
I am a long time user of Google Apps an I use them for document collaboration, calendar with reminders, emails, invoicing, invoicing reminders and sharing info with clients and friends.
I also teach undergraduate teachers to use Google apps in the classroom for class management and information dissemination.
I can wholly recommend Google apps as a way for any business to save time and money and to keep connected to vital business data irregards of location.
There are a few improvements that I’d like to see in each app but Google are continually working to improve their products so we will probably see them sooner rather than later.

Hi Mark, thanks for the comment. Apologies for not responding sooner! There are some exciting developments on the way in Google Apps for Education including the addition of the Picasa and Blogger systems to the Google Apps suite. We are working with a number of schools who are using Google Apps and we are finding an enthusiastic response from teachers who have used it.
